Welcome to my first Patrick Ta palette review! It's finally spring, and the beauty community has been blooming with new releases. One of my personal favorites has been the Major Dimension II Rose Eye Palette by Patrick Ta. I've been testing it out for a while now, so I'm ready to give you the deets on everything from swatches to wearability. Let's get started!

First Look

Like all Patrick Ta products, the Major Dimension II palette comes in rose gold mirrored packaging. It's stunning, but don't expect it to stay clean. That gorgeous shine shows every little fingerprint and bit of dust.

But hey, it's what's on the inside that really counts!

Open it up and you'll be greeted by twelve rosy shades. With two creme bases and a mix of satin, matte, and pearlescent finishes, the possibilities are endless (and sparkly). The creme shades come with a small plastic cover to protect them from getting dirty. I love this little detail!

The pans themselves are a good size and hold plenty of product. I also appreciate that they're square- not only is it super aesthetic, but it also gives us more product.

My favorite part? Every color in this palette goes together. This makes it an awesome choice for beginners or casual makeup enjoyers. There's no color theory required! The only decision you've got is what colors to choose, not whether they'll match 🙂

Swatches

These shadows (especially the shimmers) were SO satisfying to swatch. They're pretty creamy and beautifully pigmented. I dipped back in and swatched shade Desire (shimmer, 3rd below) again, and it showed up much better with a second swipe. The mattes don't swatch the best, but they worked great on my eyes, so no complaints here. The cremes blended out beautifully after a second swipe. I didn't add any extra product- I just moved what was already there.

Here are the swatches in both mixed and natural light:

And here's my favorite part; the smudge test! I think it's fun to see how easily the shadows blend on bare skin.

Application

My first dip into the shadows I put way too much on the brush. These babies are pigmented! They're also very buildable, so start slow.

The pans themselves are also a bit powdery. Use a gentle hand when dipping in. Despite this, I didn't have any issues with fallout under my eyes. If you get too much product on the brush, just tap it on the edge of the palette to remove any excess!

Each color I've tried has blended out beautifully. I applied the shimmers and cremes with my fingers and everything else with a brush.

Here's the look I ended up with! The image on the left is right after I finished my makeup. To the right is after a few hours at work. No smudging or muddy colors! The shimmer was still as shimmery as ever. I was thrilled with the staying power. I used an eye primer and setting spray to help lock everything in place.

Final Thoughts

There's no doubt about it, this is a gorgeous palette. The packaging is stunning, the color story is well thought out, and the shadows perform as any luxury shadows should. The twelve different shades and finishes leave endless possibilities for all kids of looks- from soft and shimmery to bold and smokey.

The one downside of this palette? The price. It goes for $68 on Patrick Ta's website. When it comes down to it, that's just under $6 per shadow. If it's within your budget, this is definitely a palette worth adding to your collection. I've been impressed with it start to finish.

This palette is currently an online exclusive, so take a good look at my swatches above- you won't be able to swatch it yourself in store (even at Sephora).

If it's not in your budget right now, don't worry! I'm on the hunt for some dupes to help you out 😉
